Report from Pakistan

The following is from a western aid worker that just returned from Pakistan:

at no point during my time there did i feel threatened
by the community. it needs to be said that the
demonstrations about 'the cartoon' are not about the
cartoon, but are the only means dissenting political
parties can demonstrate agains the musharraf regime.
political demonstrations are outlawed, but a
demonstration against heresy, that just so happens to
be a remarkable show of organization and strength,
musharraf can say nothing against. these
demonstrations are evidence of real internal unrest,
and are using anti-western rhetoric as a convenient
cover.
