Eclipsed from the headlines by the ongoing carnage, there is an active
civil resistance in Iraq that opposes the occupation, the torture regime
it protects, and the jihadi and Ba'athist 'resistance' alike.

Cut the histrionics, willya guys? It is not helpful to contribute to the dumbing-down of the word "genocide" to mean "anything we don't like." From Bahrain's Gulf Daily News, June 18:
Palestinian Ambassador to Bahrain Ahmad Abbas Ramadan yesterday accused Hamas of staging a coup and committing genocide after it took control of Gaza on Wednesday. He also suggested the Hamas leadership in Damascus, Syria, could be behind the decision, but said an international aid embargo imposed after Hamas took control of the unity government was also to blame.
However, in an interview with the GDN he denied that his country was heading for an irrevocable divide on both political and geographical lines.
Even as Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas swore in a new emergency government in the West Bank, Mr Ramadan remained optimistic.
"I do admit that it is a difficult and complicated situation in Palestine at the moment due to Hamas's coup d'etat, crimes and genocide committed by them," he said.
"These crimes have been perpetrated under clear orders either from Hamas leadership in Gaza or Damascus, but these problems can be solved."
The inconvenient facts and unanswered questions surrounding the attacks are legion, but the endemic sloppiness of the self-styled "researchers" is delegitimizing the entire project of critiquing the "official version." The ostentatiously named "Truth movement" is not clearing the air, but muddying the water.

While there have been vicious wars in Balkan history, these have taken place in the context of manipulation by imperial powers and the self-serving local leaders who cater to them.
