Zarqawi urged to hit U.S.?
Submitted by Bill Weinberg on Thu, 03/03/2005 - 04:50.
Citing an anonymous "intelligence source," Newsday and assorted other media outlets claim that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the most-wanted militant leader in Iraq, has been urged by Osama bin Laden's top aide to organize attacks in the US. "It was a call from [Ayman] al-Zawahri in January," the intelligence source supposedly said. "He asked [al-Zarqawi] if he could plan something inside the United States."
Strangely, Fox News reports that Homeland Security will not be raising the alert level in response to these revelations. Is there really a possibility that this is not just government propaganda?
