An indigenous protester is brutalized by police in the June 5 attack on the roadblock at "Devil's Bend" in the Peruvian Amazon. An eyewitness account of the killings that caused shockwaves around the world has been published by the UK-based advocacy group Survival International. The report contains dramatic photos by two Belgians, Marijke Deleu and Thomas Quirynen, who were caught up in the violence and were themselves shot at. Stephen Corry of Survival International calls the massacre "the Amazon's Tiananmen."
